Mission and research subjects of NIVTS

Vegetables and tea which supply us with vitamins, minerals and dietary fiber etc., are important crops for our rich and healthy life. However vegetable and tea production has been faced with a lot of problems such as decreases in the number of producers and cultivation area, increases in imported vegetables and tea with rapid internationalization, unstable production caused by frequent meteorological hazards, pests, and diseases, fear of environmental pollution caused by agricultural production, and strong consumer demands for stable supply, safety and high quality of domestic production of vegetables and tea etc.

Contributing to the vegetable and tea industries and to the rich and healthy lifestyle of the nation, NIVTS carries on development of technologies for high quality, safety and low cost vegetables and tea corresponding to expanding demand.

The main research subjects are as follows:
